The funeral service for Donald G. Bennett of Albert Lea, formerly of Roseville, Minn., will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Interment will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Elmhurst Cemetery in St. Paul. Visitation will be one hour before the services at the funeral home.
Donald died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center, Health Care Wing. He was 79.
Donald was born on Jan. 26, 1924, in Philip, S.D., the son of Fred Monroe and Ida Marie (Schulz) Bennett. He graduated from Philip High School.
Donald served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had been stationed in Japan f
from June 1946 to November 1947.
When he returned from the service, he continued his education in St. Paul. He had been a foreman at Moorhead Machinery in Minneapolis for 35 years.
Donald was united in marriage to Alma Jabs on May 8, 1954.
He is survived by two sisters: Edith Perault of Midland, S.D., and Marge Hosek of Mitchell, S.D.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alma; three brothers: Harvey, Orville and Magnus Bennett; and a sister, Gladys Olson Armstrong.
