Clair Andrew Olson, 74, Wells

Clair Andrew Olson, age 74, of Wells, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in rural Albert Lea from complications of cancer.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. The Rev. Meg Sander will officiate. Visitation will be today, Sept. 4, at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4-8 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells, with Military honors by the Wells Color Guard.

He was born June 18, 1929, in Bricelyn, the son of Andrew and Regina (Holan) Olson. He married Dorothy E. Schultz on Nov. 12, 1954, in Blue Earth.

Clair was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth and confirmed at Bricelyn Lutheran Church. He attended country school and Bricelyn Public School. He served in the U.S. Army, and was a truck driver for 42

years, driving for Banquet Foods, Eklund Trucking, Simonson Trucking and Styer Trucking. He retired in 1997.

Clair was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Wells VFW and American Legion Posts. He enjoyed going for rides, playing cards with friends in Vinje, Iowa, and watching the Vikings. His daily routine was to start with breakfast at Mary’s Cookin’, then on to the VFW and Wells Drug for coffee and dice shaking with friends. He also enjoyed his time with family. He will be greatly missed but we take comfort in knowing he is now pain-free and at peace.

He is survived by three daughters: Rhonda and husband Everett Iverson of Grenada, Miss., Regina Wachlin and special friend Joel Anderson of Albert Lea, and Becky Grunzke and fiance Jim Martin of Mason City, Iowa; two sons:Richard Olson of Hayward, and Randy and wife Jeannie Olson of Wells; grandchildren: Jeremy (Amy) Iverson, Shaun (Lisa) Olson, Crystal Olson, Heather Olson, Terry Olson, Travis Olson, Tanya Meyering, Eric Grunzke, Erin Grunzke, C. J. Grunzke, and Sheila (Bobby) Spain; great-grandchildren: Hayley and Hannah Olson, Noah Meyering, and Katie Spain; three sisters: Arlene Henning and Vivian Johnson of Bricelyn, and Marian Williams of Pleasanton, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Maxine Olson of Bricelyn; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy, in 1998; one sister, Geraldine Oren; one brother, Franklin Olson; four brothers-in-law: Earl Henning, Gehard Johnson, Earl Williams and Oswald Oren; one grandson, Cole Olson, and one son-in-law, Robert Wachlin.
