Dorothy Brandt, 83, Wells

Dorothy Brandt, age 83, of Wells, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Albert Lea Medical Center of a massive heart attack.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. The Rev. Meg Sander will officiate. Visitation will be today, Oct. 3, at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4-7 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Wells.

Dorothy was born on Feb. 12, 1920 in Clear Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Hulda (Knaack) Callahan. She lived most of her life in Clark Township and graduated from Freeborn High School in 1938. On Aug. 26,1941, she married Eldo W. Brandt in Wells. Dorothy worked for a number of years at Telex in Blue Earth.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the WELCA and the Hope Circle. She also was a member of the Wells American Legion and VFW auxiliaries and enjoyed playing cards, fishing, sewing and embroidery.

She is survived by three sons: David and wife Elaine Brandt of Rochester, Howard and wife Deb Brandt of Minnesota Lake, and Paul Brandt of Rochester; two grandchildren: Michael and Christopher Brandt; two sisters: Velma Brandt of Wells, and Norma and husband Harold Beyer of Comfrey; two sisters-in-law: Delores Callahan of Minnesota Lake, and Linda and husband Jim Holley of Burlington, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1984; one daughter, Elaine, in 1990; daughter-in-law, LeAnn in 2002; two brothers: William and Robert Callahan; one sister, Betty Lindsey; and one brother-in-law, Harold Brandt.
