Gordon Dale Fernelius, 69, Albert Lea

The memorial service for Gordon Dale Fernelius will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. Phil Peters and Marilyn Peters, associate in ministry, will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Friends may visit with the family one hour before the service at the chapel.

Gordon died on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at Thorne Crest South Retirement Center, Albert Lea. He was 69 years old.

Gordon was born in Albert Lea on Aug. 27, 1934, the son of Harry and Josephine (Gratz) Fernelius. He was a graduate of Albert Lea High School.

Gordon was formerly married to Juanita Harrington on Nov. 27, 1971, in New Buffalo, Mich. For many years he worked as an over the road trucker for various companies and was proud of the fact that he had traveled in 48 states. He enjoyed bowling and had bowled on numerous teams in Albert Lea. He was an avid motorcycle rider and had received many trophies for racing.

Gordon is survived by his three children: Melinda (Steve) Miller of Fridley, Minn., Warrant Officer Donald (Stacy) Fernelius of Okinawa, Japan, and Caroline Fernelius of Alden; two grandsons: Nathan and Johnathan Miller of Fridley; one sister, Helen Weik of Albert Lea; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gladys; and brother, Donald.
