Evangeline Kaspar, 90, Brainerd

Evangeline Kaspar, age 90, of Brainerd, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at Woodland Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter with the Rev. Chris Meier officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
Evangeline was born Oct. 28, 1913, to Peter and Margaret (Siblerud) Ackland in Albert Lea. She grew up on a farm nearby. She graduated from Proviso High School in Proviso, Ill. In 1934, she was united in marriage to Joseph Kaspar in Chicago, Ill. They moved to Nisswa in 1951. Together they owned and operated Nisswa Lakeside Resort until 1992. In 1997, she moved to the Woodland Good Samaritan Village. Before Joseph’s death in 1999, they celebrated 65 years of marriage. Evangeline was a charter member of the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa. She was also a member of the Nisswa Garden Club, Nisswa Womens Club and a Nisswa Lioness. She loved gardening, fishing, and boating. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Evangeline is survived by daughter, Claudia Wohl of Merrifield; son, Douglas Kaspar of Lake Shore; sister, Clarissa Harvey of Albert Lea; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Her husband, parents, three brothers, and four sisters preceded her in death.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
