Donald Dean Williamson, 78, Glenville

Funeral services for Donald D. Williamson, age 78, of Glenville, will be held on Tuesday, March 9, at 10:00 a.m. from the Glenville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Don Malinsky will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Freeborn County Servicemen’s Organization. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Donald died on Friday, March 5, 2004, at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Donald Dean Williamson was born on March 19, 1925, in Glenville, the son of Ernest and Fannie Grace (Kral) Williamson.

He attended Glenville grade school and Albert Lea High School. Donald served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army.

After his discharge he returned to Freeborn County. On Jan. 2, 1944, Donald was united in marriage to Evelyn M. Tostenson. Donald owned and operated the local grocery store for 26 years, owned and drove his school bus, hauled mail and retired from Ulland Bros. in June 2002 where he was a scale man and loader operator.

Donald also worked on the Alaskan pipeline as a younger man. Donald enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, and most special to him was the time that he would spend talking with his grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling around the county sightseeing and he and Evelyn enjoyed the times that they spent at Mystic Lake.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of Glenville; children: Dianne and husband Larry Roerish of Rochester, Adeline and husband John Rust of Clarks Grove, Dawn Knaack of Glenville, Mary Ann Olson of Albert Lea, Donald Williamson and Mary of Allison, Iowa, Douglas Williamson of Federal Dam, Minn., and Jim and wife Cindy Williamson of Glenville; grandchildren: Chad and wife Sherry Williamson, Tonya Williamson, Eric Roerish, Elissa Roerish, Brandon Cech, Barry and wife Katie Cech, Katie Rust, Cody Knaack and special friend Jill and her son Wyatt, Jesse Knaack, Jackie Knaack, Aaron Williamson, Lindy Williamson, Josh and Jenny Reyerson, Seth Olson, Nara Olson and Derek Olson; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Dylan, Michael, Jadelyn, Caden and Brayden; brothers: twin brother, Dayton and wife Margaret Williamson of Alexandria, Minn., and Richard and wife Mary Williamson of Albuquergue, N.M.; brothers-in-law: Donald and wife Linda Janssen of Northwood, Iowa., and Eddie and wife Karen Tostenson of Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jacqueline; brother, Ed Williamson; sisters: Olive Williamson and Marlys Janssen; and nephew, Michael Janssen.
