Four Tigers named all-conference for girls’ hockey

Four members of the Albert Lea High School girls’ hockey team have been named to the All-Big Nine Conference Team for the 2003-04 season.

Brittany Arendt, a senior captain who played forward and defense for the Tigers, received the honor along with junior forwards Tessa Christensen and Amy Leach, and sophomore forward Laura Hillman.

Arendt was fourth on the team with 37 points on 21 goals and 16 assists. Hillman had a team-high 33 goals and 33 assists for 67 points. Christensen had 54 points on 27 goals and 27 assists, Leach 40 points on 12 goals and 28 assists.

Christine Tubbs, a senior defender and a captain, received honorable mention on the all-conference team. She had five goals and eight assists.

The Tigers, in their first season under head coach Jason Fornwald, finished 11-4-1 in the Big Nine, good for third place, and had an overall record of 17-8-1. They lost 2-1 to Mankato West in the opening round of the Section 1A tournament.
