Melvern L. (Pat) Conley, 80, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Melvern L. (Pat) Conley of Albert Lea will be 3 p.m. Saturday, March 6., at Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Visitation will be two hours before the service. Bonnerup Funeral Service will be in charge of arrangements.

Melvern died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at St. John’s Lutheran Home. He was 80 years old.

Melvern was born June 27, 1923 at Quimby, Iowa, to Fred Harvey and Etta Edith (Waldon) Conley. He married Delores Cline on June 1, 1947, at Cherokee, Iowa. Melvern farmed by Quimby, Iowa, for one year. Then he moved to Morris, Minn., and also farmed there. In 1950 he moved to Minneapolis and worked for Carter Day Minnesota Sheet Metal Works, Minnesota Rubber Company and then the University of Minnesota Environmental Service until he retired Jan. 1, 1990. Melvern moved to Albert Lea in 1999. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Melvern was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He enjoyed working on his car.

Melvern is survived by three children: Dennis Conley and his wife Mary of Minneapolis,

Edith Bohrnstedt and her husband Erik of Albert Lea, and Patrick Conley and his wife Bobbie of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren: Denise Latuff, Karl and Kurtis Bohrnstedt, Alora and Amanda Conley, and Wayne and Matthew Martin; two great-grandchildren: Whitney Latuff and Jonathan Martin; and two sisters; Shirley Connelly of Belleville, Wis., and Vicki Sundheim of Starbuck, Minn.

Melvern was preceded in death by his parents: Fred and Etta Conley; wife, Delores; son, Glen in infancy; a stillborn son; a son, Tom; two sisters: Avonell and Fanchion; and brother, Mike.
