Ross Stadheim remained hot and the Albert Lea High School boys’ golf team stayed unbeaten.

Stadheim, a senior, shot a 74 at Green Lea as the Tigers defeated Rochester Century in an 18-hole Big Nine dual meet Friday. Albert Lea had 314 strokes, the Panthers 322.

The win improved the Tigers to 2-0 in the conference and 3-0 overall in duals. They also won the season-opening New Prague Invitational.

Following Stadheim Friday for ALHS were Alex Lair, 78; Ben Jones, 80; Matt Bennett, 82; Adam Elseth, 83; and Beau Larson, 88.

“It was similar to (Thursday),” said Tigers coach Matt Addington. “We won, but we know we can play better. One part of the problem is we haven’t had a lot of practice around the green and we need to spend some time there in practice. We left a lot of strokes out there and, we have another busy schedule next week, so we need to work on it this weekend.”

Addington admitted it felt a bit uncomfortable talking about what the Tigers are doing wrong as they continue to win.

“It’s encouraging that these guys are disappointed in themselves,” said the coach. “At the same time, they know what they need to work on.”

The Albert Lea junior varsity also won again, shooting 329 to Century’s 346. JV scores: Troy Farnes, 79; Casey Bowman, 82; Mike Larson, 83; Jared Bowman, 85; Ben Billat, 88; and Corey Amanson, 104.

The first state rankings are expected today, according to Addington, who anticipates the Tigers in the top 10 based on their scores.

The Tigers play Monday at Austin.
