G-E baseball team runs record to 9-0

GLENVILLE &045; After picking up a key win, the Glenville-Emmons baseball team got an easy win.

The Wolverines drilled visiting Mabel-Canton 9-1 in a Southeast Conference game at Glenville Thursday, two days after knocking off a tough Spring Grove squad 5-2.

It kept the Wolverines unbeaten at 9-0 overall and 4-0 in the SEC.

The Wolverines started strong against Mabel-Canton, putting three runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning and leading 6-1 after three innings.

Alex Hansen led the way, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Michael Greibrok was 2-for-3 with one RBI and three runs scored, Mike Yocom 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Contributing one hit apiece were Wade Flattum, Robert Flugum and Nathan Cooper. Flugum’s hit was a double.

Hansen went the distance on the mound, scattering seven hits while walking one and striking out five. Mabel-Canton’s run was unearned.

&uot;We just stayed aggressive at the plate and hit good pitches,&uot; said Wolverines coach Louie Toulouse.

The Wolverines rallied from a 2-0 deficit after four innings at Spring Grove, tying it with single runs in the fifth and sixth and adding three in the seventh.

Yocom went 2-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs. Devan Kaasa, Flugum, Seth Buchanan and Justin Flattum added one hit each. Buchanan tripled.

Greibrok held the Spring Grove bats in check on six hits and two walks. He struck out nine and did not allow an earned run.

&uot;We played pretty good defense other than the two errors,&uot; said Toulouse.

The Wolverines play today at Southland.
