Crystal-Pierz Lake Cleanup Day set for June 19

MINNEAPOLIS &045; Crystal-Pierz Marine, in conjunction with the Minnesota Lakes Association, has announced the 2004 Crystal-Pierz Marine Lake Cleanup Day, an effort to preserve the health and beauty of area lakes, making them better places to work and play.

The cleanup day is Saturday, June 19 and includes efforts along the shores of dozens of lakes in Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin. It will include, but is not limited to, lakes surrounding all 11 Crystal-Pierz Marine locations: Albert Lea, Crystal, Maple Lake, Gull Lake, Forest Lake, Brainerd, Shakopee, Pelican Rapids, St. Cloud, Fargo, N.D. and Rice Lake, Wis.

Crystal-Pierz Marine will provide trash bags and boats for participants at prearranged locations to assist in cleanup of islands, lake bottoms and shorelines. As well, experts will be on hand to educate the public about the &uot;three M’s&uot; &045; milfoil, mussels and motorboats and the impact of each on the health and

safety of area lakes. Volunteers will meet at Crystal-Pierz Marine locations for

instruction, a bite to eat and bags to collect trash at the area lake of their choice. In addition, participating lake associations will be provided with their own supply of &uot;turnkey cleanup kits&uot; which include bags, brochures, posters, etc. to distribute to individuals and/or community groups interested in hosting their own cleanup effort.
