Wallace E. “Wally” Lunning, Albert Lea, 74

The funeral service for Wallace E. “Wally” Lunning, of Albert Lea, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Concordia Lutheran Church, Pickerel Lake. The Rev. Karen Behling will officiate. Interment will be in Salem Memorial Cemetery, Lake Mills, Iowa. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.

Wallace died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. He was 74 years old.

Wallace was born Sept. 24, 1929, at Thompson, Iowa to Buell and Clara (Charlson) Lunning. He attended school at Lake Mills, Iowa. Wallace grew up at Thompson, Iowa, and then spent most of his adult life in Albert Lea. Wallace was united in marriage to Lucile (Tootie) Bergstad on July 18, 1953, in Albert Lea. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Pickerel Lake, and was a former usher. Wallace was owner operator of Wally’s Trucking Service. He especially enjoyed fishing. Wallace and his wife spent many summers at their cabin on Battle Lake. Family and friends were always welcome and a great time was enjoyed by all who visited.

Wallace is survived by his wife, Lucile (Tootie) Lunning of Albert Lea; son, Steve and his wife Lynn; his grandchildren: Philip, Julia and Andrew all of Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Melva Tollagson of Forest City, Iowa; brother, Darrel and his wife Carla Lunning of Albert Lea; sister-in-law, Laura and her husband Dale Seifert of Elgin, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

Wallace was preceded in death by his parents; sister,: Clarice Marjorie Hauan and her husband Harlan; brother, Burton Lunning and his wife Ruby; brother-in-law, Elmer Tollagson; sisters-in-law and their husbands: Hazel and James O’Rourke, Cora and Leonard Teigen, and Ode and Clifford Hamson; five brothers-in-law: Carl, Joe, Bennie, Eddie and Martin Bergstad; and infant brother, Joseph.
