Bernice Ethel Schutz, 83, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Bernice E. Schutz, age 83, of Albert Lea, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 8, at the First Lutheran Church in Glenville. The Rev. Mark Wendland and Vicar Korey Finstad will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Bernice died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at her home in Albert Lea.

Bernice Ethel Schutz was born Oct. 4, 1920, to Ole C. and Carry (Helland) Olson in Thompson, Iowa. She was baptized at the West Prairie Church in Thompson. In 1929, the family moved to Glenville. Bernice was confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Glenville. On Oct. 24, 1939, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Schutz. The couple lived in the Glenville area until moving to Albert Lea in 1988. Bernice was a very kind and compassionate person. She enjoyed caring for her children and grandchildren, reading, spending time with her family at Trumble’s having pie, watching &uot;Bandwagon,&uot; and dancing.

Survivors include daughter, JoAnn and her husband Don Nolander; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Schutz; grandchildren: Ryan Nolander, Steve and his wife Steph Nolander, Michael Schutz, and Mark Schutz; sister-in-law, Geneva Olson; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Eugene; husband, Lloyd; sister, Edith Waldo and brothers: Carroll, Clifford and Orville Olson.
