Elda A. Halvorson, 87, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Elda A. Halvorson, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 5, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. Pastor Wayne Halvorson will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service

and one hour before the service at the church.

Elda died on Thursday, July 1, 2004 at St. John’s Lutheran Home. She was 87.

She was born on April 8, 1917, in Claremont, the daughter of Ernest and Laura (Linse) Hargefeld.

She graduated from Claremont High School in 1934 with honors. She married Leslie Halvorson on November 5, 1941. To this union a son Ernest and a daughter Lorea were born. Elda has resided in Albert Lea since 1942, where she was a homemaker, creating a loving home for her family. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Albert Lea for more than 50 years. She was very active in ladies aid and taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed sewing, making quilts, knitting rugs, watching the Twins and doing

crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her daughter Lorea Van Houdt of Faribault, son Ernest Halvorson and his wife Kathy, of Albert Lea, five grandchildren,

nine great-grandchildren, sister Helen Lee of Blooming Prairie, brother Harold Hargefeld of Blooming Prairie, sister-in-law Vida Fuller of Akeley, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Florence and Wally Munson of Owatonna,

brother-in-law Louis Nechanicky of Albert Lea, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Laura Hargefeld, husband Leslie in 1993, three brothers: Robert, Ervin and Clarence Hargefeld, son-in-law Donald Van Houdt.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. John’s for all the loving care Elda received.
