Editorial: Fair support came from all corners

The Freeborn County Fair, &uot;the best six days of summer,&uot; certainly lived up to the tagline in our minds.

The food vendors produced all the fair favorites, the entertainment, some of the biggest names in the business, delivered foot-stomping, hand-clapping, ovation-standing music, and the 4-Her’s showed quality work.

To all the people who put so much planning and effort for so many months into making the Freeborn County Fair outstanding, our hats are off to you.

The rain tried to crowd in on the fun a few times, but if attendance estimates &045; roughly 98,000 came through the fair gates &045; mean anything, nobody was going to let the weather dampen their fun.

In the next few weeks, counties surrounding Freeborn County will put on their fairs as well. Considering how many area people stopped by

the Freeborn County Fair, perhaps a visit to those other fairs &045; Mower and Steele counties in particular &045; would be in order.

Without the support of our local and regional residents, our fair would have been a flop.. We couldn’t believe how many people were attending our event who indicated they were from out-of-town.

Take a day to show support for these fairs as others showed their support for ours.
