Esther E. Vogelsang, 92, Wells

Esther E. Vogelsang, age 92, of Wells, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at the Parkview Care Center in Wells.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at the United Methodist Church in Wells. The Rev. Dean Stille will officiate. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells today, Sept. 23, from 5 to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Wells.

Esther Vogelsang was born on Sept. 25, 1912, the daughter of Matthew and Esther (Smith) Johnston in Dunbar Township, Faribault County. She attended country school through the eighth grade. Esther was united in marriage to Walter Vogelsang on Nov. 25, 1930 in Freeborn County. In 1931, they joined the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Dunbar Township. Esther and her husband lived on the farm until 1936, and then moved into Wells. She was a housewife and worked at Kirschner Grocery and Lou s Food Market and Restaurant. Esther was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wells. She enjoyed fishing, sports, and gardening.

She is survived by five children: Gerald and wife Donna Vogelsang of Howard Lake, Minn., Donna Lee and husband Gordon Kaiser of New Richland, Beverly and

husband Norman Malakowsky of Mankato, Dale and wife Joan Vogelsang of Waseca, and Donald and wife Judy Vogelsang of Waseca; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren ; two great-great-grandsons; two sisters: Leilah Ott of Minnesota Lake, and Ethel Arnold of New Richland; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter, on Jan. 3, 2004; one daughter, Carol, in 1964; and one brother and one sister.
