The Albert Lea 12-and-under girls’ hockey team dropped a pair of games in recent action, falling 5-3 at Mankato and 4-0 at New Prague.

Mankato opened the scoring two minutes into the first period but Albert Lea answered with a Sophia Jepson goal assisted by Lauren Draayer. Albert Lea scored in the second period with Anna Anderson going on an end-to-end rush and slipping the puck between the skates of the Mankato goalie. Anderson scored Albert Lea’s final goal in the third period with a backhanded shot from the blue line. Sydney Conley was in goal and made 17 saves for Albert Lea.

Although Albert Lea was outshot 40-4 at New Prague the team played a strong game with good passing and positioning. Erin Shahan had her best game of the season in goal, not allowing second shots, covering rebounds and cutting down angles.
