Funeral services for Virginia M. Christenson, age 81, of Albert Lea, will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 24, at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at the church. Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Virginia died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center.

Virginia Mae Christenson was born May 30, 1923, to Carlos and Belle (Sessions) Chase in Virginia, Minn.

She attended school in Hibbing. On March 22, 1940, Virginia was baptized at First Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea. She was united in marriage to Milton R. Christenson on Sept. 27, 1941, in Albert Lea.

Survivors include her children: Harold and wife Joan Christenson of Hastings, Milton (Mick) and wife Karolyn Christenson of Owatonna, Kathy and husband Mike Callahan of Ellendale, Jerry and wife Pam Christenson of Emmons, and Mark Christenson of Sioux Falls, S.D.; grandchildren: Kim Christenson and Mike Coon, James Christenson, Steven Christenson, Jerry and wife Monika Chappee, Shelley and husband Paul Dotson, Jason Christenson, David and wife Cheri Christenson, Sue and husband Tim Sullivan, Steve and wife Nancy Lukens, Patty and husband Jim Hove, Melissa Watland, Becky and husband Adam Reim, Lori and husband Craig Eggers, Chris and wife Lori Callahan, Jennifer and husband Chad Hacker, Lisa and husband Ryan Novaczyk, Jordann Kunkel, Jeremy Christenson, Josh Christenson, Cory Christenson, Nathan Christenson, Steven Christenson, Daniel Christenson, Alex Christenson, and Jacob Christenson; 28 great-grandchildren; and sister, Elaine Mitchell.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton; granddaughter, Elizabeth; sisters: Thelma, Jean, and Laura; and brother, Carl.
