A Squirts remain hot with three victories

The Albert Lea A Squirts White hockey team has been on a roll from the start of the new year with the first big win coming Jan 2.

The Squirts team faced a tough Austin squad which beat the locals in an earlier meeting. This time Albert Lea won 6-0 at Packer Arena. Scoring for Albert Lea were Eric Carlson and two goals and one assist; Levi Hacker with two goals Shea Svendsen with one goal and Trent Bellrichard one goal. As the score dictated, a strong defensive effort was turned in by defensemen Josh Martin, Aspen Heilman, Jared Hogstad and Tyler Osmundson, with Griffin Wangen notching the shutout facing 13 shots.

The locals the faced a good New Prague team Friday, Jan. 7 at the City Arena, posting a 5-2 win in a very up-tempo game filled with many up and down rushes of the puck. Scoring for the home team were Carlson with two goals, Hacker with two goals, Svendsen with one goal and one assist and Bellrichard one assist. T.J. Berg played in the net, facing 10 shots and recording the win

The Squirts finished the weekend with another win, 6-4 over Mankato. Scoring for Albert Lea were Carlson with the hat trick and one assist, Hacker with one goal, Andre Purdie one goal and

Tyler Osmundson one goal.

The rest of the team includes Nate Stadheim, Ben Enger, Parker Thompson and Lucas Peterson.

The team will be in action next at home against Mason City Sunday, Jan. 16 at 4:30.
