Editorial: Viking must find a way to beat the Pack

Published 12:00 am Sunday, January 9, 2005

With two losses to the Packers behind them, the Minnesota Vikings have some avenging to do. Not only for their own pride, but for team faithfuls across the state.

As we prepare for Sunday’s kick-off, it will be easy to fall into a negative state about our team &045; they’ve choked in four superbowls, lost countless opportunities to play in the big game and then there’s the lamentable record against their arch-rival, the Packers.

Don’t fall prey to the negativism &045; we’re sure it’s a clever conspiracy concocted by Packer faithful living in our midst.

Until the clock winds down, signaling the game’s end, we must remain strong and confident our team will pull off a win.

And a win is what the Viking faithful deserve. This team simply must find a way to propel itself past the sixth game, when after a series of wins, it seems to lose momentum and ends the season with a string of losses.

At the very least, the Vikings must find a way to consistently beat those Packers year in and year out for fans to remain loyal.

Sunday may send rain or snow &045; both are in the forecast &045;for the 3:30 p.m. game. If you don’t have a seat at Lambeau Field, situated deep in Packer country, count yourself lucky to watch the game from the comfort of your own armchair.
