Verlin J. Draheim, 93, Wells

Verlin J. Draheim, age 93, of Wells, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.

Funeral Services were 10:30 a.m. today, Jan. 3, at United Methodist Church in Wells. The Rev. Dean Stille officiated. Visitation was held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and one hour prior to services today at the church. Interment will be at Rice Lake Cemetery in Foster Township, Faribault County.

Verlin John Draheim was born on July 22, 1911, to Charles and Clara (Leyh) Draheim at Bertha, Minn. When he was seven he moved with his family to Mizpah, Minn. On June 28, 1941, he married Mildred Sens in rural Wells. They lived in Koochiching County and moved to a farm near Bricelyn in 1945 where he farmed. He also sold Trojan seed corn for more than 25 years. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, lapidary, and his grandchildren. He and his wife spent 29 winters in Mesa, Ariz., where he was a moderator in the rock shop and enjoyed hiking in the mountains. In 1995 he and his wife moved to their home in Wells.

He spent his last years at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.\

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wells.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred of Wells; one daughter, Koreen and her husband (Clarence) Anderson of Cherokee, Iowa; one son, Vernell and his wife Carol Draheim of Bricelyn; six grandchildren: Craig (wife Roxane) Anderson of LeMars, Iowa, Cheri (husband Chris) Beyer of Sioux Falls, S.D., Vance (wife Erica) Draheim of Cottage Grove, Minn., Kim (husband David) Groner of Cashmere, Wash., Cathy Anderson of Minneapolis, and Caryn (husband Pat) Mithun of Bricelyn; five great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Orwin and wife Beth Draheim; his sister, Dorothy and husband Howard Nelson; and one grandson, Curtis Anderson.
