Ardis Arlene Wacholz, 89, Albert Lea

Ardis Arlene Wacholz, age 89, of Albert Lea, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea.

Funeral services will be at Mansfield Lutheran Church in rural Alden on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Don Rose officiating. Visitation will be held at Bruss- Heitner Funeral Home in Wells on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to services at church on Saturday. Interment will be in Mansfield Lutheran Cemetery.

Ardis was born on Jan. 18, 1916, in Walters, the daughter of Albert and Julia (Tatge) Schacko. She was baptized and confirmed in Walters and attended school there. She married Elmer Wacholz on June 7, 1939, in Walters. They farmed for many years in the Walters and Mansfield area and moved to Albert Lea in 1978 when they retired. She was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Walters and had served as organist there. She was a member of Mansfield Lutheran Church and was involved in the WELCA and Circles, and had served as the treasurer of the former ALCW.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer, in 2003; and one brother and his wife: Norbert and Betty Schacko.

Ardis is survived by one daughter, VeeAnn (husband David) Solum of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; one grandson, Ethan (wife Niki) Solum of Albert Lea; four great-grandchildren: Emily, Abbie, Adam and Aaron Solum; one sister, Juanice (husband Daryl) Smith of Alden; three sisters-in-law: Erma Wacholz of Mankato, and Muriel Gries and Malinda Heaney of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.
