Bernice M. Kaplan, age 77, longtime Moses Lake, Wash., resident, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at Avalon Care Center in Othello, Wash.
Memorial services were held at 10
a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at Kayser’s Chapel and Crematory with the Rev. David Daugs officiating. Arrangements were in care of Kayser’s Chapel and Crematory.
Bernice was born Sept. 17, 1927, to the late David Joseph and Emma (Girard) Sharboneau in Geneva. She was raised and educated in Albert Lea.
Bernice married Robert A. Kaplan on June 15, 1947, in Albert Lea. They resided in Albert Lea where they owned and operated Kaplan Sporting Goods until moving to Moses Lake in 1975.
Bernice worked several years at Berry’s Department Store.
She loved to dance and she and Robert were members of the Merry Mixers Dance Club. Besides dancing, she loved to cook and spend time with her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Cherri Kaplan of Moses Lake; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Sharon Kaplan of Austin; four grandchildren: Timothy and (Mara) Kaplan of Cottage Grove, Minn., Nicholas Kaplan of St. Paul, Molly Kaplan of Minneapolis, and Mitchell Kaplan of Austin; her little dog, Buddy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in Albert Lea in midsummer.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and nine brothers and sisters.
