Edward Delman Ed Ernest, 84, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Edward D. Ernest, age 84, of Albert Lea, will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. James Young will officiate. Interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the services at the chapel.

Ed died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.

Edward Delman Ernest was born July 12, 1920, to Lewis M. and Minnie B. (Hendrickson) Ernest in Albert Lea. He was a 1939 graduate of Albert Lea High School and attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis after the war. He had worked for Boeing Company in Wichita and Seattle. On Aug. 16, 1955, he married Alice Rochelle in Seattle. The couple lived in St. Louis before moving back to Albert Lea in 1965. Ed was a real estate broker and a designated real estate appraiser. He was a member of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers. He was also a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Masonic Lodge, and the Shriners. He especially loved nature, dogs and cats, fishing up north, and reading.

Survivors include his wife, Alice of Albert Lea; children: Mark and his wife Josefa Ernest of Eagan. and Christine and her husband Scott Baron of Rockville, Md.; brother, Malcolm Ernest of Albert Lea; and nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Adelyn Jensen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Humane Society of Freeborn County, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
