Phyllis Brechbiel Hanson, 82, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Phyllis Brechbiel Hanson will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.today at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour before the service at the church.

Phyllis died on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Phyllis Jean was born July 29, 1921, on a farm near Winthrop, Sibley County, the elder daughter of Harry and Elizabeth (Grotewold) Brechbiel. She had lived in Albert Lea since 1930, attended the schools in Albert Lea and was a member of the class of 1940 Albert Lea High School.

She was married on Dec. 20, 1944, at the First Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea to Fred H. Hanson, son of Fred and Helena (Herold) Hanson.

Phyllis was employed as a secretary by Rilco Laminated Products, Gordon Electric, Co., and Lesota Tool Co. Her hobbies and interests were bowling, sewing, folk art painting, ceramics, and genealogy. The latter involved the publishing of three genealogy books. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, the Albert Lea Women’s Bowling Association,

a charter member of Freeborn Genealogical Society, and the First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband of Albert Lea; son, Larry Allen Hanson of Owatonna; and niece, Mary Jane Behrns of

Waldorf; and nephew, Patrick M. Lennon of Owatonna, and their families.

Preceded her in death are her parents: Harry and Elizabeth Brechbiel; and sister, Judith Ann and her husband James Lennon.
