Maynard Johnson, 92, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Maynard G. Johnson, age 92, will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. John Malm will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Freeborn County Veterans’ Organization. Visitation is one hour prior to the services.
Maynard died Monday, March 28, 2005, at Albert Lea Medical Center.
Maynard Gilmer Johnson was born Feb. 4, 1913, to John and Sena (Hagen) Johnson in Hartland. He attended school in the Hartland area and worked on the family farm before serving in the United States Army during World War 11. After his discharge from the service, Maynard returned to Freeborn County and worked for the Mobil Gas Co. On Sept. 25, 1946, he was united in marriage to Anna J. Saman at the Hayward Lutheran Church parsonage. Maynard farmed in the London area for many years and was also employed at Olson Excavating and Dennis Baseman Lumber. He enjoyed reading, working in the yard, and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife, Anna of Myrtle; daughter, Kathleen Flanary of Northfield; grandchildren: James Flanary and fianc6e Bridget Shepardson of Richfield, and Melissa and her husband Ryan Wiste of Northfield; and nieces and nephews.
Maynard was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters; son-inlaw, Joseph Flanary; and eight nephews.
