Norris Tukua, 89, New Richland

The funeral service for Norris Tukua will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland. The Rev. Paul Andree will officiate. Interment will be in St. Olaf Cemetery, New Richland. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.

Friedrich Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Norris died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, in Rochester. He was 89 years old.

He was born March 15, 1916, in Manchester, the son of Selmer and Anna (Olson) Tukua.

He attended rural country school. As a young man he began his lifelong career as a buttermaker by working as an apprentice in New Richland.

On June 25, 1939, he married Wanita Haugan in New Richland. Following their marriage, he attended courses at the University of Minnesota and received his buttermaker license. He then worked at creameries in Conger, Waseca, and Altura, Minn., owned and operated his own creamery in Chester, Iowa, and from1957 until

retirement he worked at Marigold/Kemps in Rochester.

He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and later enjoyed reading, speaking Norwegian and watching sports on T.V., especially the Minnesota Twins.

Norris is survived by two children: Sharon Haugan and Steven (Melanie) Tukua

of Rochester; six grandchildren: Brian (Brenda) Lamonica, Chris (Amy) Tukua, Mike Tukua, Scott Tukua and Danny Tukua; great-grandchildren: Dakota Lamonica, Jeremy Lamonica, Joshua Lamonica and Gabriel Tukua, sisters: Sylvia (Gene) Dodge of New Richland,

and Dorothy (William) Jones

of California; brother, Gilman (Vida) Tukua of California; sister-in-law, Doris (Matz) Tukua of California; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanita; brothers: Robert and Jule Tukua;, and great-granddaughter, Savannah.
