Caroline Jerdee, 95, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Caroline M. Jerdee, age 95, of Albert Lea will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 23, at East Freeborn Lutheran Church. The Rev. David Hernes will officiate. Interment will be in the East Freeborn Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Caroline died Thursday, May 19, 2005, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.

Caroline Magelina Jerdee was born May 19, 1910, to Frederick and Rosina (Hoersch) Frey in Hebron, N.D. She graduated from Hebron High School in 1928. Caroline married Myron Knutson in 1936 in Almont, N.D. She worked as a housemother for Kappa Psi Fraternity in Fargo cooking for 50 boys. Caroline married Orville Jerdee on Dec. 21, 1952, at East Freeborn Lutheran Church.

She was a member of Sons of Norway and East Freeborn Lutheran Church and was active in Circle, Altar Guild, and Bible Study and had directed the Children’s Choir for many years. Caroline loved cooking and baking and visiting people, and always brought baked goods to those she visited. She had traveled to many places including Mexico and Norway. Caroline also enjoyed hunting and fishing and had been a volunteer at St. John’s until she was 90.

Survivors include her son, Robert and his wife Janice Knutson of Albert Lea and their children: Cari Knutson, Cheri (Lowell) Ness, Shelly (Darryl) Bos, and Stacy (Tom) Adair; son, Ron and his wife Sharon Jerdee of rural Hayward and their children: Chad (Carolyn) Jerdee, Jeremy (Amy) Jerdee, and Jay (Heather) Jerdee; daughter, Marlene and her husband David Thompson of Hayward and their children: Diane (Doug) Wichmann, Doug (Peggy) Thompson, Chuck (Cindy) Thompson, and Cheri (Scott) Christensen; and daughter, Marilyn and her husband Dale Matson of Hayward and their children: Cindy (Bruce) Meierbachtol, Gordy (Anna) Matson, Valerie (Jeff) Curry, Renae Koll, and Clay (Jade) Matson; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville; five brothers; and four sisters.

Caroline will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends. Blessed be her memory.
