Gerald Burkart, 65, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Gerald L. &uot;Gary&uot; Burkart will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the Church of St. Theodore. The Rev. Robert Schneider will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Gary died on Saturday, June 11, 2005, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.

Gerald Lowell Burkart was born on Nov. 18, 1939, in Albert Lea, the son of Raymond &uot;Butch&uot;

and Louise Clara (Kremer) Burkart. He was a lifelong resident of Albert Lea. Gary graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1959. On Nov. 27, 1965, Gary was united in marriage to Elaine King in Hollandale. Gary worked for many years at Montgomery Wards as a salesman, retiring in the late 1980s. He was a member of St. Theodore’s Catholic Church. Gary enjoyed the theater, movies, crafts, and being with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine of Albert Lea; children: Lisa and her husband Curt Clark of Albert Lea, Nicole and her husband Carl Weseman of Albert Lea, and Jamison Burkart of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Jonathon, Amber, Matt, Krista, Jasmine, Hunter and Douglas; step-grandchildren: Chris Weseman of Albert Lea, Angie and her husband Brian Webb, and Laura Weseman, all of Las Vegas, Nev.; step-great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Blake and Jake; sisters: Arlene &uot;Tootie&uot; and her husband Glenn Flatness of Albert Lea, and Rose and her husband Fred Tetzlaff of Oklahoma; nieces and nephews; and his devoted friend, George Rothmeier of Albert Lea.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; a sister in infancy; his brother. Richard &uot;Dick&uot; Burkart; and a nephew, Wayne.
