Fern Bruckhoff, 87, Forest City, Iowa

Fern Helen Bruckhoff, age 87, of Forest City, Iowa, formerly of Kiester, Minn., died on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at Forest Plaza Assisted Living in Forest City, Iowa, where she had been a resident since 2002.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 22, at 1:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Kiester, with the Rev. Lynn Borgeson officiating. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells on Sunday, Aug. 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. and one hour prior to services at church on Monday. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Kiester.

Fern Helen Bruckhoff was born June 7, 1918, the daughter of Monte and Eva Mae (Ford) Conrad in Tulsa, Okla.

Fern graduated from Wells High School in 1936 and attended Teachers Training and taught first grade reading and arithmetic at county school.

Fern did receptionist work and bookkeeping for several businesses in the area.

On June 12, 1942, she was united in marriage to W. A. &uot;Pete&uot; Bruckhoff in Marshall.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Kiester.

She is survived by children: Mary and her husband Floyd Trent of Lewisville, Texas; Richard and his wife Susan Bruckhoff of Carrollton, Texas; Paul and his wife Debbie Bruckhoff of Rowlett, Texas; Bruce and his wife Carrie Bruckhoff of Forest City, Iowa. Five grandchildren: Adam Bruckhoff of Lewisville, Texas; Matt Bruckhoff of Atlanta, Ga.; Jason and his wife Jessica Bruckhoff of Forest City, Iowa; Joshua and Jenna Bruckhoff of Forest City, Iowa. One great-grandson: Carter Bruckhoff of Forest City, Iowa. Two brothers: Carroll Conrad of Two Harbors, Minn.; Don and his wife Peggy Conrad of Abelene, Texas. Three sisters-in-law: Gwen Bruckhoff of Wells, Minn.; Mildred and her husband George Stencel of Minnesota Lake, Minn.; Hildred Hoechst of Mapleton, Minn. And numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband in 2002.
