Gordon Martin Sr., 83, Wells

Gordon Charles Martin Sr., age 83, of Wells, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, at the Albert Lea Medical Center in Albert Lea.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m.Tuesday, Aug. 2, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells, with th Rev. Meg Sander officiating. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells on Monday, Aug.1, from 5 to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to services at Church on Tuesday. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells, with Military Honors by the Wells Color Guard.

Gordon C. Martin Sr. was born Aug. 3, 1921, the son of Carl &uot;Charley&uot; and Anna (Drager) Martin in Wells. On April 30, 1953, he was united in marriage to Waneda Fedder in Blooming Prairie. Gordon was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving in World War II. He was a member of the Wells American Legion and the Wells VFW Posts for 60 years. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was a past member of the church council. Gordon also ushered at church. He enjoyed gardening, going drilling, but especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Waneda Martin of Wells; four sons: Gordon Jr. and his wife Julie Martin of Wells, Kermit and his wife Linda Martin of Salem, Ore., Kevin and his wife Connie Martin of Wells, and David and his wife Joyce Martin of Easton; one daughter, Tammy and her husband Dick Whiteis of Mankato; one sister,

Marcelene and her husband Louie Mortenson of New Richland; five grandchildren:

Melissa and husband Eric Huper of Wells, Justin Martin of Wells, Laura and Taylor Martin of Wells, and Dru Martin of Easton; two great-grandchildren: Daylyn and Caldyn Huper of Wells; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters: Bernice Decker, Gladys Johnson, Irene Delgado, Margaret Tufe, and Dorothy Ratigan; and one brother, Roy Martin.
