The Glenville-Emmons volleyball team played its second consecutive five-game match Thursday, however, this time it was unable to pull out the win falling to Lanesboro 26-24, 23-25, 25-27, 25-12, 15-8.

The Wolverines showed their toughness by bouncing back form the disappointing loss in game one to take the next two.

But the pressure of two close games seemed to get to G-E in the fourth and fifth games.

&uot;We just could not serve-receive in those games,&uot; said G-E head coach Lisa Ziebell.

&uot;I think we were a little mentally drained after that third game, and playing back-to-back five-game matches was tough.

The girls stopped communicating and Lanesboro wanted more in the end.&uot;

The Wolverines went from an attacking club in the first three games to one more on the

defensive in the last two and the results showed it.

Ashley Lau led the team with 17 kills while both Chelsey Ziebell and Jordyn VanRyswyk added 15 apiece.

Jordan Claussen, the senior setter, was responsible for dishing the ball out to all her hitters and she responded with 25 assists in a performance her coach called &uot;great.&uot;

Coach Ziebell hopes that her team is able to learn from this and apply it as the season moves on.

&uot;Hopefully, the girls will see that even when you have the momentum you have to continue to play hard and not let up,&uot; she said.

The loss dropped the Wolverines to 1-2 on the season with all three games coming against conference foes.
