Marion Jahnke, 91, Bricelyn

Marion Janet (Leland) Jahnke, age 91, of Bricelyn, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday,

Sept. 3, at Bricelyn Lutheran Church in Bricelyn , with the Rev. Ed Nieman officiating. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn Friday, Sept. 2, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., and one hour prior to services at church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery, Seely Township, Faribault County.

Marion Janet (Leland) Jahnke was born on June 5, 1914 to John and Josephine (Johnson) Leland on a farm in rural Bricelyn. She attended country school through the eighth grade. Marion was united in marriage to Vernon Jahnke on April 28, 1938, at the Bricelyn Lutheran Church parsonage. To this union six children were born. Marion was a lifetime member of Bricelyn Lutheran church where she was very active in the women’s organizations. She was a lifetime resident of Bricelyn until moving to St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea in December 2001.

Marion is survived by her husband of 67 years, Vernon Jahnke of Albert Lea; f ive children: Kathleen Rosedahl and husband Bob of Rochester, Emelie Paulson and husband Jim of Albert Lea, Myrna Donovan and husband Jim of River Falls, Wis,

Vernon John Jahnke and wife Debbie of Pomona, Calif., and Bradley Jahnke of Roseville, Minn.; nine

grandchildren: Kyle Rosedahl and wife Janet of LeRoy, Todd Rosedahl and wife Jody of Zumbrota, Minn., Troy Rosedahl and wife Gina of Brownsville, Wis., Nanci Lifer and husband Scott of Eden, Utah, Melissa Wilson and husband Justin of Baldwin, Wis., Kaye Urick and husband Bill of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Laura Murphy and husband Sean of Hudson, Wis., and Chris Jahnke and Joel Jahnke of Pomona, Calif.; 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Gerald Leland and wife Addie of Bricelyn,, Wally Leland and wife Ada of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Kenneth Leland and wife Della of Albert Lea; sisters-in-law: Ardine and husband Chet Solum of Albert Lea, and Erma Leland of Bricelyn;and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her oldest daughter, Sharon; an identical twin sister, Mildred Kortes; sisters: Viola Burkhow and Gladys Jahnke; and by brothers: Hobert, Irving, Leon, Edgar, Orlando and Allan Leland.

She will be sorely missed by her loving husband and children.
