Bernice (Mamie) Boer, 93 of Fargo died Oct. 1, 2005, at Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo, N.D.

Bernice Ruth Hove was born May 6, 1912, to Andrew and Johanna (Hopperstad) Hove. She grew up in Tioga, N.D., attended Minot State Teacher’s College and returned to Tiogaa to teach. In

1938 she met and married Roland Boer and made a home with him in Albert Lea. after moves to Philadelphia and Chicago, Mamie, Roland

and their three children returned to Albert Lea. Mamie taught piano in her home until 1969 when she and Roland retired and moved to Payson, Ariz. After the death of their son Byron they returned to Albert Lea and lived there until Roland’s death in 1987. Mamie then moved to Fargo to be near her daughter Donna’s family.

In 2002 her family and friends gathered in Fargo for Mamie Day, a celebration of her life. There were songs stories, much laughter and a few tears.

Mamie was known for her green thumb, her sewing skills, her voracious appetite for books, her unconditional love for her family and friends and her persistent upbeat attitude.

Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, Roland; her son, Byron; one brother Orin; and her sister, Ruby.

She is survived by her son Frederick (Nidia) deBoer, Panama City, Panama; her daughter Donna Orr, Fargo, N.D.; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Mamie will be buried in Albert Lea with her husband and son. A family memorial service will be held at a future date.
