Steven Enfield, 51, New Richland

Steven Elga Enfield, 51 of New Richland, died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at Crossroads Evangelical Free Church in Albert Lea with the Rev. Glen Stevens and the Rev. Roland Burt officiating. Visitation is from 3-7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 9, at the Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial is at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault.

Worlein Funeral Home in Austin is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Oct. 11, 1953, to Loren and Wanda B. (Harden) Enfield in Austin. He graduated from Austin High School in 1972 and worked at Winnebago in Forest City, Iowa.

He married Dianna Schlichter on Nov. 23, 1974, in St. Ansgar, Iowa. In 1976 they moved to Lake Mills, Iowa, where they lived until 1980 when they moved to New Richland so Steve could work as a dairy farmhand until 1985.

In 1986 he returned to school at Albert Lea Vo Tech for training as a lab tech. He worked at Owatonna Canning Company until the year 2000. Steve founded S & J Seamless Gutters, which he operated with his son-in-law until his health forced him to retire.

He enjoyed his grandchildren and spending time watching their sports activities. He also liked hunting and fishing, working with mechanical things, riding motorcycles and spending time at Shields Lake. He attended Harvest Time Church in Faribault.

Survivors include his wife, Dianna Enfield of New Richland; two daughters, Amy Kropp of Minneapolis; Sherry (Jay) Wangsness of Albert Lea; a son-in-law, Jeff Kropp (Shari Baumgart) of Owatonna; five grandchildren, Gary Enfield, Dakota Wangsness, Garrett Wangsness, Jade Kropp and Hannah Wangsness; his father, Loren Enfield of Austin; five brothers, Larry (Gwen) Enfield of Big Lake, Michael (Cindy) Enfield of Austin, Tom (Lisa Sanders) Enfield of Austin, David (Ginny) Enfield of Brooklyn Park and Dan Enfield of Austin; one sister, Penny (Randy) Deters of Brownsdale; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Cheryl (Wayne) Brandt of Austin, Paulette (Ray) Snook of Glidden, Iowa, Jeanne Motl of Blooming Prairie, Ed Schlichter of Austin, and Joe (Lisa) Schlichter of Owatonna.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Enfield; parents-in-law, Paul and Thelma Schlichter; and brother-in-law, Mark Schlichter.

Casket bearers are Larry, Michael, Tom, David and Dan Enfield, Randy Deters, Wayne Brandt and Joe Schlichter.

Honorary casket bearers are Gary Enfield, Dakota Wangsness, Garrett Wangsness, Jade Kropp and Hannah Wangsness.
