MINNEAPOLIS (AP) &045; Minnesota forward Jamie Broback, a top returning scorer and rebounder for the Gophers, is taking a leave of absence from the team for personal reasons, the school announced Wednesday.

Broback, a 6-3 junior from Apple Valley, averaged 14.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game last season and was an All-Big Ten honorable mention selection. The school didn’t say when she might rejoin the team.

The Gophers opened the exhibition season Wednesday night against an AAU team from Wisconsin. The regular season starts Nov. 19 when the Gophers take on San Francisco during the Subway Classic in Minneapolis.
