LYLE &045; Alden-Conger wasn’t quite able to make new head coach Charlie Freitag a winner in his first game as the Knights fell to Lyle/Pacelli 71-63 in overtime.
The Knights struggled against the zone much of the night but still had a lead until L/P was able to hit the shot that sent the game into the extra session.
Derek Peterson and Ryan Wach led the way for Alden-Conger with 15 points each with Peterson adding 11 rebounds for an opening game double-double.
Jordan Montes added 10 points and Alex Bute chipped in with nine.
&8220;We wanted to get off to a good start in our first game,&8221; said Freitag.
&8220;We played good but it just wasn’t quite enough.&8221;
A-C had a 36-25 lead at the break but was unable to hold that advantage in the second half.
The Knights are back in action Tuesday when they host rival Glenville-Emmons with action getting started at 6 p.m.
