Berneice was born March 10, 1917, in Freeborn County, daughter of Albert and Rebecca Fredrickson. They moved to Cedar Falls for a short time, and then moved to Long Beach, Calif., in 1929. She graduated from high school in Long Beach, and then went on to beautician school as a licensed operator. She enjoyed modeling for photographers and entered Long Beach beauty contests. The family moved back to Minnesota in 1936 after the tragic death of her dad. She met her future husband at the Clarks Grove Creamery where Oscar worked; he was also a member of the Baptist church where she attended. They were united in marriage Dec. 31, 1939, at the Baptist church where she has been a member for the last 66 years.

Berneice was a very talented artist, winning many ribbons at the county fairs for her beautiful oil paintings and exquisite embroidered pillow cases, table top sets, dish towels, we will treasure the beautiful work she left us. Berneice was a wonderful down-home cook, baked homemade bread weekly and was known for her Danish Kringles decorated with almonds and red cherries made to look like flower petals. She was an avid gardener and loved to spend time outdoors. She loved to play around on her steel/Hawaiian guitar when her family was young, teaching her young family to sing. One of her favorites was &8220;My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean.&8221; She was naturally gifted in music.
