Donald Paulson, Albert Lea, 89

The funeral service for Donald I. Paulson, former Albert Lea resident, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, at First Lutheran Chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate.
Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by Albert Lea veterans organizations. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
Donald died on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at the La Crescent Health Care Center, La Crescent, Minn. He was 89.
He was born on Nov. 3, 1916, in Story City, Iowa, the son of Jens and Catherine Paulson.
He graduated from Story City High School.
On Aug. 17, 1942, he married Avis Lockart in Albert Lea.
Donald served our country in the U.S. Army from
February of 1943 until his honorable discharge in March of 1946.
He was a policeman in Albert Lea for more than 20 years. Following his retirement from the police force, he delivered motor homes for Winnebago logging in more than a million miles.
Don was an avid golfer and at the age of 80 was proud to get a hole-in-one.
Family was very important to Don, he enjoyed the years when mother-in-law Clara Ann Lockart lived with them and he took special pride in his three grandsons.
Donald is survived by two sons: Don &8220;Mike&8221; Paulson and his wife Sue of Mankato and Cal Paulson and his wife Jane of La Crescent, Minn., grandchildren: Brad Paulson of Rensselaer, Ind., Benjamin Paulson of Mankato and Brody Paulson of Albert Lea.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Avis in 1992.
Don will be remembered as being easy going and always willing to give everyone a fair &8220;shake.&8221;
