Larry Reed, of Albert Lea

The funeral service for Larry O. Reed, of 1615 Sunset, Albert Lea, will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Clayton Balsley will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Larry died Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, at his home after a courageous two- year battle with lung cancer.

Larry was born Sept. 25, 1940, in Albert Lea, to Raymond and Florence (Kleven) Reed. He has been a life time resident of Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High. Larry married Joan Miller on March 5, 1959, in Albert Lea. Larry owned and operated ACE Auto Body in Austin, for over 25 years. He later sold auto parts until he was too ill. Larry enjoyed music and played in several bands over several decades. In 1958 he played with the Convertibles. Other local bands that he played with were The Country Drifters, Music City News and Larry Reed and the Rebels. Larry enjoyed golfing and cars. His family was very important to him.

Larry is survived by his wife Joan of Albert Lea; daughter: Vicki Steindel and her husband Gregg of Minneapolis and their daughter Reed; son: Randy Reed of Minneapolis; four brothers: Robert Reed and his wife Linda of Alabama, Richard Reed and his wife Toni of Sun City, Ariz., Paul Reed and his wife Marlyce of Austin, and Daniel Reed and his wife Jane of Laguna Niguel, California; many nieces, nephews and cousins; brother-in-law: Darrel Miller and his wife Jean of Bonsall, Calif.; sister-in-law: Peggy Michna and her husband Jim of Albert Lea. Larry had many friends and acquaintances.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Florence Reed.
