Egel Anderson, 85, of Albert Lea

Funeral services for Egel Anderson, age 85, of Albert Lea will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at Bayview/

Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Interment will be in the Ellendale Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services.

Egel died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Egel Anderson was born March 23, 1920, to Karl and Kristine Anderson, in Taars, Denmark. He came to Minnesota with his family at the age of three. As a young man, Egel farmed with his family. On June 27, 1947, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Otteson at the First Baptist Church in Clarks Grove. Egel was employed at Wilson and Co., retiring in 1983. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Moose Lodge (Past President), and the Eagles Club. Egel enjoyed traveling, hunting when he was younger, and especially spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Albert Lea; children: Duane Anderson of Dallas, Texas, Pauline and her husband, Henry Carlson of Albert Lea; Diane and her husband, Robert Andrews of Governeur, N.Y., Dale Anderson of Columbia, Calif., Randy and his wife, Terri Anderson of Blooming Prairie; and Judy Anderson of Philadelphia, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Frank and his wife, Arlene Anderson of Owatonna; sister, Ethel and her husband, Lavern Hoff of St. Louis Park; and many nieces and nephews.

Egel was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Judith Anderson; brothers: Einer, Neils, and Gunner; and sisters, Bergetha and Gunhild.
