Erna Skov, 93, formerly of Alden

Erna E. Skov, age 93, formerly of Alden, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, after an extended stay at New Richland Care Center in New Richland.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, at 2 p.m., at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden, with the Rev. Peter Soli officiating. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, and one hour prior to services at church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Alden Cemetery in Alden.

Erna E. Skov was born March 15, 1912, the daughter of Jacob and Nielsine (Albertsen) Mickelsen in Brondersler, Denmark. She came to the United States in 1915 and to Minnesota in 1920. She married Harold Skov on Nov. 5, 1930, in Alden. They farmed for many years in the Alden area. She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and volunteered for many community activities. Erna enjoyed crocheting, baking, gardening, and flowers.

She is survived by three sons: Duane (Pat) Skov of New Richland, Leverne (Liz) Skov of Albert Lea and Russell (Marilyn) Skov of Hayfield; one daughter: Marjorie (Merlyn) Swehla of Alden; 10 grandchildren: Mike Skov, Linda (Dale) Enser, Wendy (Bruce) Niebuhr, Cynthia (Terry) Schroeder, Merlyn (Lori) Swehla Jr., Leann (Kevin) Rivers, Lance Skov, Brock (Melissa) Skov, Kyle (Caren) Skov, and Kalli Skov; great-grandchildren: Michelle Enser (fianc Tony LeBerge), Amanda Enser (fianc Greg Born) Dylan Enser, Miranda (Tim) Sailor, Aurora (Jeremy) Grunzke, Tessa Niebuhr (fianc Nathaniel Cummings) Spencer Niebuhr, Mark (Tina) Schroeder, Lisa (Shawn) Olson, Derek (Jessica) Schroeder, Heather Schroeder (fianc Mike Obermeyer) Tiffany, Brady, and Trae Swehla, Kaitlynn, Christopher and Matthew Rivers, Brandon, Adison, and Andrew Skov; 13 great-great-grandchildren: Logan, Gage, Shayanne, Payton and Coltin Sailor, Mayson and Cearra Grunzke, Drew, Trevor and Karli Schroeder, Hayley and Hannah Olson, and Cole Schroeder; one sister: Agnes Pistulka in California; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers: Einar and Aage Mickelsen, one sister: Carrie Hansen, and one great-granddaughter Holly Ann Enser.
