Howard Sorenson, 66, of Albert Lea

Funeral services for Howard A. Sorenson, age 66, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Paul Aldrich will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by the Freeborn County veterans organizations. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Howard passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at Albert Lea Medical Center.

Howard Albert Sorenson was born June 2, 1939, in Ellendale, to Albert and Helen (Brynstad) Sorenson. On Feb. 17, 1962, he was united in marriage to Audrey Neitzel at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin. Howard was employed at Progress Castings and retired in 1977 due to poor health.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Howard enjoyed the love of flying and airplanes, talking on the Internet, ham radio, photography, and collected tractors and angels.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey; children: David and wife, Brenda Sorenson, Jayne and husband, Ken Rimer, and Rhonda and husband, Michael Ruff; grandchildren: Tyler Sorenson, Tyler Hammer, Markie and Mallory Sorenson, and Natasha Weigel; brothers and sisters: Muriel Shaunce, Marlys and wife, Theresa Sorenson, Bernetta Hanson, Donna Guervara, Donnie and Caroline Sorenson, Margaret and husband, Clifford Otterson, Richard and wife, Linda Sorenson, and Raymond Sorenson; and nieces and nephews.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Augusta Neitzel; sister, Luella; brothers-in-law: Myron Neitzel, Dale and wife, Reka Neitzel, Laurel Hendrickson, Glen Shaunce, and Lyle Hanson; and nephew, Bruce Neitzel.
