Marlowe Flesche, 84, of rural Ellendale

Funeral services for Marlowe E. Flesche of Rural Ellendale, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006, at the Community Lutheran Church, Geneva, Minn. The Rev. Joel Xavier will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4 until 6 at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel in Ellendale. Interment will be in the Silver Lake Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Northwood, Iowa.

Mr. Flesche died Monday evening at the Albert Lea Medical Center. He was 84 years of age.

Marlowe was born Nov. 1, 1921, in Bath Township, rural Ellendale, the son of Martin and Esther (Jorgenson) Flesche. He graduated from Ellendale High School and the Brown Technical College in Minneapolis.

Marlowe was united in marriage to Carolyn Odegaard on Sept. 20, 1947, at the Silver Lake Lutheran Church, rural Northwood, Iowa. He was employed for a short time at KATE Radio. He also farmed for a time, and worked for many years at Queen Stove. Most recently Marlowe worked for Gilbert Refrigeration retiring in 1981.

Marlowe was a member of the Community Lutheran Church in Geneva since 1974. Before that he had been a member at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Marlowe enjoyed singing in the choirs and was active as an usher at both churches.

Marlowe was active in the YMCA Y’s Men’s Club and the High Y Boys. He was a member of the Ellendale Historical Society for the past 15 years. He was in a bowling league with his friends. His hobbies were his horses, fishing and spending time camping at Lake Kabatogama. He was a 4-H leader and a member of the saddle club.

Marlowe is survived by his wife Carolyn of rural Ellendale, children Terrie and her husband Maurice Mullenmaster of Ellendale, Mark Flesche and his special friend Jennifer Huisman of Albert Lea. Grandchildren Ebonie and Cole Mullenmaster and Derek Flesche. One nephew Thomas Olsen and his friend Maury Anderson of Minneapolis, sister in law Gladys and her husband Wayne Haroldson of Windom, Minn. and their children who were very special to Marlowe.

Marlowe was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Esther and Sister Genevieve Olsen and her husband Harry, nephew Robert Haroldson.
