Iowa athletes run at the state meet

Runners from both Lake Mills and Northwood-Kensett took part in the Iowa State Track and Field Meet over the weekend.

The Northwood-Kensett distance medley relay team of Preston Davidson, Matt Hengesteg, Grayson Pangburn and Erin Nagle ran a 3:46.92 to finish in fourth place for the highest area finish.

Lake Mills senior Melissa Brackey ran a 12.93 in the 100-meters to finish fourth in her preliminary heat but did not advance to the finals.

Becky Dahn, Sabrina Roll, Catlin Skjeie and Brackey did qualify for the finals of the 4×100 relay posting a time of 50.58 taking second in their heat.

The Lake Mills shuttle hurdle relay team of Courtney Eidness, Sam Nelson, Ali Dugger and Skjeie ran a 1:11.74 but did not advance out of the prelims.

Skjeie, Roll, Eidness and Brackey finished the 4×200 in 1:50.73 to place eighth in their heat.

Karla Renshaw, Paige Nelson, Sammy Nelson and Dahn ran a 4:12.58 to take eighth in their heat of the 4×400.

Justin Kester was the Bulldogs lone individual qualifier for the boys running an 11.34 in the 100 prelims and missing the finals by just three hundredths of a second.

The Lake Mills 4×200 relay team of Steven Hengesteg, Peter Brekken, Lars Christianson and Kester ran a 1:33.26 to place sixth in their section. However, the Bulldogs didn’t advance to the finals.
