Funeral services for Mary (Betty) Elizabeth Hockinson of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 18, at St. Theodore Catholic Church. The Rev. James Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4 until 8 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. A scripture prayer service will be held Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery.
Betty was born April 9, 1925, in Elma, Iowa, the daughter of Clement and Lydia (Sullivan) Cashman. She graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy and Hamilton Business College.
On Aug. 27, 1949, she was united in marriage to Marvin Hockinson in Elma, Iowa. In 1964 they moved to Albert Lea where she has been a resident ever since. Betty was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church and a member of the CCW. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.
Betty was employed for over 20 years in the Albert Lea Public School System as a paraprofessional.
Betty enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with her family and friends.
Betty is survived by her children: Jo (Mary) Crill of Champlin, Minn., Dan and his wife, BJ of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Jim of Albert Lea, Mick and his wife, Diane of Albert Lea. Also surviving are grandchildren: James (Renae) Crill, Jennifer Crill, Erika, Abby and Luke Hockinson, David Hockinson, Matt and Marissa Hockinson. There is one great-grandchild, Haley Crill. One sister survives, Sister M. Clementine Cashman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin (Hockey); brother, Louis Cashman and sister, Marion Goergen.
