Chester Aldrich, 85, of Northwood

Funeral services for Chester W. Aldrich, age 85, of Northwood, Iowa, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeff Wallager will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Glenville with military honors accorded by the Glenville American Legion and the Freeborn County servicemen’s organization.

Chester died on Saturday, June 24, 2006, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.

Chester Warren Aldrich was born on Jan. 19, 1921, in Warsaw, Minn. the son of Ira and Clara (Shigley) Aldrich. Chester attended Faribault High School and then served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was united in marriage to Eleanor Woker on Feb. 16, 1940, in Northwood Iowa. Chester worked for Wilson and Company in the Refrigeration Unit. Chester was a member of the Glenville American Legion where he served as Commander for two terms. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his horses and cattle and his companion &8220;Joe&8221; his dog.

Chester is survived by his wife, Eleanor of Northwood, Iowa; children: Sandra and husband Ken Elwood, Gerald and wife Harriet Aldrich, Dwight and wife Eloise Aldrich, Donna Aldrich and special friend Charles Johnson, Wanda and husband Mark Julson and Debra and husband Duane Broitzman; 27 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Aldrich; sister-in-law Ernestine Meschke; and six nieces.

Chester was preceded in death by his parents, three sons, Curtis, Chester and James; one brother; three sisters; and special brother-in-law, Donald Meschke.
