Frances Stenzel, 84, Wells

Frances M. Stenzel, age 84, of Wells, died Friday, July 21, 2006, at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato from complications of a stroke. Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, July 25, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and a prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour before the service on Tuesday with the Rosary at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Eugene Stenzel will officiate. Burial will be in St. Casimir Cemetery in Wells.

Frances Martha Stenzel was born Feb. 22, 1922, the daughter of John J. and Mary (Staloch) Kalis in Dunbar Township, Faribault County, Minn. She married Raymond P. Stenzel on Oct. 14, 1940, in Wells. They lived on the same farm their entire married life of 62 years.

They had been active members of the Farmers Union and DFL Party.

She was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church and its CCW and Rosary Society. Frances enjoyed gardening, taking care of her farm animals and was interested in the farming economy. Frances was very family oriented and greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

Frances is survived by eight children and their spouses: Mary (Glenn) Miller of Mankato, Minn.; Bernadette

(Doak) McBryde of Houston, Texas; Mark (Trisha) Stenzel of Arlington, Va.; Marjorie (Mark) Mudrick of Merion Station, Pa.; Joyce (Tom) Wilcox of North Mankato; Bryan (Julie) Stenzel of Wells; Gretchen (Curt) Harder of Mountain Lake; and Jacqueline (Mark) Chicos of Waseca. There are 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren surviving.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond in 2002, her son Gregory in 1960, her granddaughter Meredith McBryde in 1996, two brothers and three sisters.
