We encourage Albert Lea residents to take advantage of their new tennis courts. They are sort of out of the way, so we thought it help to have some directions.
The tennis courts belong to the city and to the Albert Lea School District. The agreement basically says that when the school district isn&8217;t using the courts, city residents are welcome to play on them.
The courts are north of Albert Lea High School among the trees along Y.H. Hanson Avenue. People should park in the school lot and walk back to the tennis courts.
The city committed $100,000 to building the $281,300 tennis courts, and the rest of the came from leftover referendum money when the new high school was built.
The district could not use the money for the classroom. Under state law, it had to be used for construction.
Most of all, these courts are nice. We mean it spoken slowly: niiiiice. Take advantage of them. Get outside and play before the winter sets in.
