LAKE MILLS &8212; It took a 70-yard pass play in the fourth quarter to seal the deal, but the Lake Mills football team outlasted North Butler Friday night in Lake Mills, 19-14.
The Bulldogs out gained NB 342 to 107 but committed five turnovers that kept the score closer than what the play on the field indicated.
Lake Mills pounded the ball on the ground for two scores in the first quarter by Peter and Jake Brekken for an early 13-0 advantage.
North Butler put together scoring drives in the second and third quarters to take a 14-13 lead heading into the final 12 minutes of play.
Despite only completing three passes on the night, Brent Bjelland came up with one big one, a 70-yarder to Lars Christianson for the winning score.
The victory snapped a two-game losing streak for Lake Mills in a game it had to have to keep any postseason hope alive.
Jake Brekken led the Bulldogs on the ground with 76 yards on 16 carries, while Peter Brekken added 50 on just nine attempts.
The Bulldogs improve to 5-2 on the year with the win and go back on the road next Friday when they travel to Rockford.
